Product Description
DUAL T Arkon's proprietary Dual T pattern was introduced in 2005 as an improvement to the Single T pattern. It's the same pattern used on the back of ALL the Magellan RoadMate GPS devices. The Dual T has quickly emerged as the mounting pattern of choice with Arkon's OEM partners. It features the same quick release feature as the Single T pattern. It also provides extra stability for wider devices and those positioned horizontally. ST-2 and 2 extensions at the end of the model number designate th

3 out of 5 stars Difficult to remove once installed   August 17, 2010
Ray LeCara Jr. (Connecticut, USA)
Our original intent was to swap the air vent mount between cars depending on who was using the GPS. That idea went out the window after installing the Arkon Removable Swivel Air Vent Mount. While it's a useful tool once installed, it's very difficult to attach and remove. Furthermore, the clips are near impossible to slide in order to accommodate individual vent designs.

4 out of 5 stars Works, tiltable, but easily come loose from air vent when yanked & comes with no instruction   June 4, 2010
Jeffrey D. Doan (San Jose, CA USA)
This thing fits my magellan fines, and can be installed on the air vent of my MB E320 easily. It also allows the navigation unit to be tilted the way I like.

Now for the lows:
For something that made in China, has no instructions even though it comes in little pieces to be put together, and doesn't feel like it costs more than $1 to make (in China), this thing is a heck of an expensive little plastic item. After I figured out how to install it on the air vent, it would stay there but wouldn't firmly grab on like I wanted it too. It would come loose off the air vent if I just slight yanked it (the two top arm grabs just barely grab on). It would also slide left and right on the air vent if I just snudged it. I will probably have to add double-sided tape to the two top arm grabs and the bottom support leg to make them more sticky.

I guess the thing serves its purpose ok, as it helps bring the navigation unit closer to the driver. But they should have at least shipped it with some sort of rubber shoes or tape to keep the unit from coming loose and sliding.

2 out of 5 stars Nice Concept   March 10, 2010

Nice concept, but won't work for me. Clips are hard to get to and if your Vent vane is loose the mount will swing back and fourth on turns. Using suction mount for now.

I purchased this vent mount just to see if it would be sufficient and since the windshield mount would not remain attached, not to mention the theft-inviting attribute of the windshield mount.
The unit is very good once attached.
Attaching and removing the unit is difficult since the pressure points where the clips are opened are very difficult to operate. This difficulty is enhanced by the fear that the unit could be broken fairly easily. Once attached, it is very good overall--enough adjustment is provided for angle and rotation, and on my 2 vehicles, the unit is stable without excess movement or vibration. This has been born-out with a 3200 mile trip to Mexico on rough roads, especially in the Mexican interior--possibly due to the tight clamping that is unfortunately part of the hassle factor of removing/attaching to vents--while mounted in a 2004 4X4 Supercrew on round AC vents (which is recommended against by the mount manufacturer).
Depending on the vehicle, leaving the unit on the mount is much less inviting to thievery vs. dash or windshield mount. Removing the GPS unit that I have (see my review of Magellan Maestro 3220 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator with Text-to-Speech) leaves an even decreased theft-attraction, and again even less when removing the GPS backplate attached to the vent mount.
4 stars due to overall effectiveness but be forewarned per removing and attaching hassles to AC vents.
